Silent Disco Beach Yoga at Gwithian
BEACH YOGA

I am fortunate to teach the sixth season of beach yoga in one of the most beautiful locations on the Cornish coast, Gwithian Towans beach. Starting in May 2018 I have taught twice weekly sessions on a Saturday morning and Wednesday evening. The class has grown from strength to strength throughout the years and the sense of community has been amazing. Thank you to all who have joined and for helping raise money to support The Wave Project, Surfers Against Sewage and Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust.

CLASSES

I offer a variety of classes in Cornwall ranging from high intensity gym-based fitness classes to energising / strengthening yoga and restorative yin yoga blended with mindfulness and pranayama. My schedule of weekly fitness and yoga classes is delivered from fitness centres, community centres and on the beach. I also offer individual private and small group classes tailored to your personal requirements and held at your preferred location. All my classes are focused and developed with the aim of improving health and wellbeing.

RETREATS

My restorative yoga and wellbeing retreats are carefully developed to replenish the body and mind. Set in the most beautiful locations they will enable you to reconnect with nature. Offering you an opportunity to take some time to step back, reevaluate and gain awareness in order to understand how you can move towards more positive wellbeing. I hold one day, weekend and longer retreats in the UK and worldwide. Recent retreats have been offered in Cornwall (January, May, Sept 2019) and Sri Lanka (March 2019, and 2020).

WELLBEING DAYS

I offer half or full day wellbeing days. I have developed these through blending my knowledge of psychological and yoga theory with my experience supporting others to enhance their wellbeing from my work as a yoga teacher and as a Clinical Health Psychologist in the NHS. My workshops will include concepts from psychology which I consider to be helpful to improve health and wellbeing. I will blend this with my learnings from Eastern philosophies such as yoga and Ayurveda and suggest ideas, tools and strategies for enhancing the wellbeing of body and mind.

My holistic approach

Home

My holistic approach focuses on the core elements of health I have come to understand as being important for the wellbeing of body and mind. I have carefully integrated my knowledge and understanding of psychological and physical wellbeing incorporating ideas from:

Psychology / Biology / Yoga

Studying these sciences has provided me with the knowledge from which I am able to integrate my experience and intuition to understand an individual’s health needs. My wellbeing workshops, consultations and retreats will focus on these core elements of health resulting in a deeper understanding of how to align body and mind.

Some insights which guide my approach to wellbeing:

Kindness is key. Be kind to yourself. Learn to treat yourself like you are your own best friend.

It is easy to neglect our own self care. We can’t pour from an empty cup! We need to ensure there is balance between what we give to others and how we care for ourselves.

We can be our own worst critic. We sometimes need support noticing this in order to become more accepting and compassionate towards ourselves.

Take time to connect with who you are and what kind of person you aspire to be. What drives you / excites you / makes you happy? Commit to live a life in line with those values.

Life’s challenges are often overwhelming and can leave us feeling stuck with no clear way forward. Know that making only a small change to one part of the system will affect change in the whole system.

Be curious, open minded and compassionate in understanding others. Every person is on a unique journey, each facing their own struggle others know nothing about.

We need to take the time to step back and reflect. Self-awareness improves our understanding of why we have become stuck in repeating the same patterns that are no longer helpful. Awareness can help us find ways to move forwards.

Often we do things to avoid what we fear which can end up taking us further away from what is important to us. Recognising this enables us to take steps closer towards our values.

Be kind in everything you do, think and say and be open to receiving kindness from others.
